Title: Prohibits Minors from Marrying Individuals 4 Years or Older
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits minors ages 17 or younger from marrying individuals 4 years or older.
Authorizes a judge or court commissioner to issue a written authorization for a minor to marry if the age difference between both parties in the marriage is 4 years or less. (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the court commissioner may not issue a written authorization for a minor to marry until at least 72 hours after the time which the minor and the minor’s parent or legal guardian file the petition for the written authorization (Sec. 1).
Establishes the date this shall take effect as May 7, 2025 (Sec. 2).
