Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that establishes new guidelines for personal injury claims filed in the state of Georgia.
Establishes new guidelines for personal injury claims filed in the state of Georgia, including provisions that (Sec. 1-8):
Limit owners’ liability for injuries that occur on their property;
Restrict special damages awarded for medical bills to the actual amount paid by the plaintiff; and
Enable trials to more easily be bifurcated, or split into multiple stages so that juries can determine liability and damages separately.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 9).
