Vote to pass a bill that prohibits transgender girls from playing on female sports teams in Montana.

Highlights:

• Prohibits discrimination by educational institutions based on sex, race, creed, religion, marital status, color, age, physical disability, or national origin (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits educational institutions that operate, sponsor, or facilitate athletic programs or activities to allow an individual of the male sex to participate on a team or in an activity designated for female individuals (Sec. 1).

• Requires educational institutions to provide restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, and sleeping quarters for one individual sex that is not accessible to the other sex while in use, excluding instances of (Sec. 1):

• Custodial or maintenance purposes; 

• The rendering of medical assistance; or

• During a natural disaster or emergency.

• Authorizes educational institutions to continue to provide (Sec. 1):

• Accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990;

• Single-occupancy or family restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, or sleeping quarters; and

• Redesignated restrooms.

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 2).
