Title: Authorizes Early Voting 15-Days Before an Election
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes early voting 15 days before an election in Mississippi.
Authorizes registered electors to vote at their local circuit clerk’s office without an excuse for 15 days before the date voting polls open (Sec. 1-14).
Repeals the 45-day in-person absentee voting period but specifies the process shall remain the same including having to have an approved photo identification present to cast a ballot (Sec. 1-14).
Requires people to fall into the state’s set of categories allowing them to cast a ballot early, which include the following (Sec. 1-14):
Being over 65 years old;
being disabled; or
Providing an “excuse” such as being out of town on Election Day.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall become effective beginning January 1, 2026 (Sec. 15).
