Vote to pass a bill that allows local government employees and officials in so-called sanctuary cities to be held civilly liable for crimes committed by immigrants without permanent legal status in Georgia.

Highlights:

• Requires custodial authorities to comply with any request made in an immigration detainer notice (Sec. 1).

• Requires custodial authorities to inform the individual identified within an immigration detainer notice that the individual is being held for notice (Sec. 1).

• Repeals the governmental immunity of local officials and employees in matters involving a violation of this act (Sec. 1).

• Repeals sovereign immunity of any local governing body that violates this act (Sec. 1).

• Repeals the immunity of any custodial authority that violates this act (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 3).
