Vote to amend and pass a bill that requires students in public schools to utilize bathrooms and changing rooms based on their sex at birth in Wyoming.

Highlights:

• Requires all public schools, with students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, in the state of Wyoming to designate every multiple occupancy restroom or changing room as either (Sec. 1):

• For the exclusive use of the male sex; or

• For the exclusive use of the female sex.

• Defines “multiple occupancy restroom or changing room” as a room meant to be used by more than one person at a time, where a person may be undressing, such as school restrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, or shower rooms (Sec. 1). 

• Requires public school districts to provide reasonable accommodation to any individual who does not wish to use a multiple-occupancy restroom or changing room under the provisions of this bill, such as a single-occupancy restroom (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall not apply to persons entering a multiple occupancy restroom or changing room designated for the opposite sex for the following reasons (Sec. 1):

• For custodial, maintenance, repair, or inspection purposes;

• For emergency medical assistance purposes; or

• For an adult assisting a student because of disability or age.

• Authorizes a coach of a school-sponsored athletic activity to enter a locker room if (Sec 1):

• No other suitable meeting room is available;

• All students are fully clothed; and

• They are accompanied by at least one additional adult who is not a current high school student.

• Requires each school district board of trustees to adopt disciplinary action policies for persons who refuse to comply with the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law in the state of Wyoming (Sec. 3).
