Vote to pass a bill that limits kratom purchases to individuals 21 and older and prohibits synthetic kratom products, known as kratom extracts in Mississippi.

Highlights:

• Limits kratom purchases to individuals 21 and older and prohibits synthetic kratom products, known as kratom extracts in Mississippi (Sec. 1-2).

• Defines “kratom product” as a food or dietary supplement that consists of or contains kratom leaf or kratom leaf extract that does not contain any synthesized kratom alkaloids, other kratom constituents, or synthesized metabolites of any kratom constituent in which the level of 7-hydroxy mitragynine, on a percent weight basis, is not greater than one percent (1%) of the amount of total kratom alkaloids, as confirmed with a high-performance liquid chromatography testing method and not to exceed one-half (0.5) milligram per container (Sec. 1-2).

• Specifies that individuals found guilty of violating these provisions shall be fined $1,000 per violation (Sec. 3).

• Specifies the provisions of this bill shall take effect beginning July 1, 2025 (Sec. 5).
