Vote to pass a bill that requires that the New York State Council on the Arts retains powers during vacancies.

Highlights:

• Requires the New York State Council on the Arts to have at least 1 member from each of the 10 regions of the state, as defined by the Empire State Development Corporation (Sec. 1).

• Specifics that the council is not in violation of the provisions of this bill in the case of a vacancy, as long as (Sec. 1):

• The vacancy is filled promptly; and

• The new appointment helps move the composition of the council in the direction of the 10-region requirement. 

• Requires simultaneous passage of proposed legislative bills S 7296-A and A 8978-A, which require the council to have members from each of the 10 regions, before taking effect (Sec. 1).
