Vote to pass a bill that requires mandatory harvest reporting of deer legally hunted in Mississippi.

Highlights:

• Requires the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks to develop, implement, and regulate a mandatory harvest reporting program for white-tailed deer to collect and compile harvest data of such quality and quantity as to be able to assist the Legislature and the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks in formulating the wildlife resource conservation policy for the State of Mississippi (Sec. 1-2).

• Requires that the system should be easy to use by hunters such as a smartphone app or online reporting system (Sec. 2-3).

• Establishes that if such a system is already in place for voluntary reporting, hunters may report their harvests by downloading the Game Check app on their mobile phone or through the agency's website (Sec. 1-2).

• Specifies the provisions of this bill shall take effect beginning January 1, 2025 (Sec. 3).
