Title: Increases the State Minimum Wage to $12.00 an Hour Instead of $12.48 as Ordered by Court
Vote to pass a bill that increases the minimum wage this year to $12.00 an hour instead of $12.48 as ordered by the court, and also preserves a lower minimum wage for restaurant servers and bartenders who receive tips in Michigan.
Increases the state minimum wage in Michigan to the following (Sec. 4):
$12.00 beginning February 21, 2025;
$12.50 beginning January 1, 2026;
$13.00 beginning January 1, 2027;
$14.00 beginning January 1, 2028; and
$15.00 beginning January 1, 2029
Prohibits an employer from displacing an employee to hire an individual at the hourly wage authorized under this bill and specifies violators shall be fined $1,000 (Sec. 4).
Defines “displace” in this bill to include the termination of employment or any reduction of hours, wages, or employment (Sec. 4).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 4).
