Vote to pass a bill that establishes and adds sexual extortion or "sextortion" felonies and sentencing guidelines to the state's Code of Criminal Procedure in Michigan.
Establishes and adds sexual extortion or "sextortion" felonies and sentencing guidelines proposed by H.B. 5887 to the state's Code of Criminal Procedure in Michigan, including (Sec. 16l):
First-offense extortion involving sexually explicit visual material would be a Class E crime against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of five years;
Second-offense extortion involving sexually explicit visual material would be a Class D crime against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years;
Third or subsequent offense extortion involving sexually explicit visual material would be a Class B crime against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years; and
Aggravated extortion involving sexually explicit visual material would be a Class B crime against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor and simultaneous passage of H.B 5887 as well (Sec. 16l).
