Vote to pass a bill that establishes and adds sexual extortion or "sextortion" felonies and sentencing guidelines to the state's Code of Criminal Procedure in Michigan.

Highlights:

• Establishes and adds sexual extortion or "sextortion" felonies and sentencing guidelines proposed by H.B. 5887 to the state's Code of Criminal Procedure in Michigan, including (Sec. 16l):

• First-offense extortion involving sexually explicit visual material would be a Class E crime against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of five years;

• Second-offense extortion involving sexually explicit visual material would be a Class D crime against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years;

• Third or subsequent offense extortion involving sexually explicit visual material would be a Class B crime against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years; and

• Aggravated extortion involving sexually explicit visual material would be a Class B crime against a person with a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor and simultaneous passage of H.B 5887 as well (Sec. 16l).
