Vote to pass a bill that establishes criminal penalties for threatening to distribute sexually explicit photographs or videos of another person in order to compel them to do things against their will in Michigan.
Establishes criminal penalties for threatening to distribute sexually explicit photographs or videos of another person to compel them to do things against their will in Michigan, including (Sec. 213b):
For the first violation a felony conviction with a prison sentence of 5 years maximum and a $5,000 fine or both;
For the second violation a felony conviction with a prison sentence of 10 years maximum and a $10,000 fine or both;
For a third and subsequent violation a felony conviction with a prison sentence of 20 years maximum and a $20,000 fine or both;
Specifies that an individual may be imprisoned for 25 years if found guilty of threatening to distribute sexually explicit photographs or videos of another person who is under the age of 18 or a vulnerable adult (Sec. 213b).
Specifies that if the provisions of this bill shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 213b).
