Vote to pass a bill that requires a hospital to adopt certain policies for patients who are giving birth in Michigan.
Requires a hospital to adopt certain policies for patients who are giving birth in Michigan by January 1, 2026 (Sec. 21567).
Requires hospitals to provide the Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs information that they have a policy in place to support patient protection and ensure that a patient can bring their doula, spouse or companion with them during labor (Sec. 21567).
Defines “doula” as an individual who provides nonclinical physical, emotional, and informational support to an individual who is pregnant before, during, and after the individual's pregnancy (Sec. 21567).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 21567).
