Title: Increases the Criminal Sentence Range for 3rd-Degree Felony Domestic Violence
Vote to pass a bill that increases the criminal sentence range for 3rd degree felony domestic violence in Ohio.
Increases and creates a mandatory criminal sentence range of a year to 18 months for 3rd-degree felony domestic violence causing serious physical harm to a fetus or termination of pregnancy (Sec. 1).
Increases prison sentences from 6 months to a year if the defendant knew the victim was pregnant at the time of the domestic violence assault (Sec. 1).
Defines “third-degree felony domestic violence” to mean when an offender knowingly or recklessly causes physical harm to a family or household member after being found guilty of two or more domestic violence offenses (Sec. 1).
Repeals sections 2903.215, 2919.25, and 2929.14 of the existing Revised Codes (Sec. 2).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 2).
