Vote to pass a bill that authorizes pharmacist to prescribe hormonal contraceptives such an implants or intrauterine devices

Highlights:

• Requires insurers that provide coverage for prescription drugs to provide coverage, if covered under insured in the health insurance policy of the insurer and dispensed by in the pharmacy of the insurer’s network,  for the following (Sec. 1): 

• Hormonal contraceptive patch; 

• Self-administered hormonal contraception; or 

• Vaignal ring hormonal contraceptive. 

• Requires the insurer described above to also provide coverage for consultation (Sec. 1). 

• Requires coverage specified in this section to be consistent with coverage of other prescription drugs under the insured’s policy (Sec. 1).
