Vote to pass a bill that amends membership in the retirement system of certain law enforcement officers hired after the enactment date of this bill in Michigan.

Highlights:

• Amends membership in the retirement system of certain law enforcement officers hired after the enactment date to include the Department of Corrections, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Natural Resources, or Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy officers (Sec. 1).

• Requires any individuals employed in eligible positions after September 30, 2024, to be treated as a member for retirement benefit purposes as any individual that became a member after June 9, 2012 (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall only take effect upon passage and approval by the Governor and simultaneous passage of S.B 166 and S.B 167 (Sec. 1).
