Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the Director of the Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLeap) be added as a nonvoting member of Michigan's delegation to the Midwest Higher Education Compact.

Highlights:

• Requires the Midwestern Higher Education Commission state board to consist of the following (Sec. 1):

• The governor or governor’s designee;

• A senator appointed by Senate majority leader;

• A House of Representatives appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives; and

• 2 at large members appointed by the governor. 

• Requires nonvoting and nonmember representation of the board, the designee of the state board of education, and the director or designee of the Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential, to be appointed by the governor (Sec. 1). 

• Requires vacant spots during unexpired periods to be appointed in the same manner as specified above (Sec. 1).
