Vote to pass a bill that appropriates $24 million in additional funding for the Department of Justice, Department of Corrections and other law enforcement-related state agencies and offices as part of the $693.3 spending bill.
Appropriates $24 million in additional funding for the Department of Justice, Department of Corrections, and other law enforcement-related state agencies and offices as part of the $693.3 spending bill (Div. I-IV, Sec. 2-23).
Appropriates $2.8 million in new funding for the Attorney General’s office to hire six new employees to assist county attorneys with investigating and prosecuting crimes.
Increases starting pay for correctional workers to $24 per hour, and increases indigent defense rates for attorneys by $3 per hour (Div. I-IV, Sec. 2-23).
Prohibits amending current federal funding for victim services which currently appropriates over $5 million to the state annually from the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), to provide services to victims of human trafficking, sexual assault, domestic violence, and violent crimes (Div. I-IV, Sec. 2-23).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Div. V, Sec. 25).
