Title: Appropriates Funding for the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL)
Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funding for the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL).
Appropriates $72 million in funding, an increase of $1.3 million from fiscal year 2024 levels to the following, including (Sec. 1-26):
The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL);
The Department of Revenue; and
Other state agencies and offices including the Secretary of State’s Office and Office of the Chief Information Officer.
Appropriates a $260,000 increase in funding to DIAL for their ability to hire another full-time employee (Sec. 1-26).
Appropriates $600,000 increase for the Secretary of State’s Office to improve cybersecurity and election integrity efforts, and $600,000 for the Iowa Insurance Division, dedicated to pharmacy benefit manager oversight (Sec. 1-26).
Specifies that funding shall be used to increase oversight of nursing homes throughout the state, though the funding is not mandated for hiring inspectors (Sec. 1-17).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 27).
