Title: Amends the ID Requirement for the Colorado Road and Community Safety Act
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that amends the ID requirement for the Colorado Road and Community Safety Act for undocumented individuals Residing in Colorado.
Repeals previous state driver's license requirements for undocumented individuals that required they (Sec. 1):
Have filed a Colorado resident income tax return for the prior year;
Demonstrate residence in the state for 2 years; and
Provide a documented Social Security number, or an individual taxpayer identification number (TIN).
Expands the list of identifying documents that are accepted to the following (Sec. 1):
A photocopy of a passport issued by the applicant's country of origin;
A voter identification card with a photograph issued by the applicant's country of origin; and
A driver's license, instruction permit, or identification card issued by the applicant's country of origin.
Requires undocumented individuals still pass the following tests and exams to attain their driver's license, including a (Sec. 1):
Written exam;
Vision check; and
Driving test.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect March 31, 2025 (Sec. 3).
