Title: Establishes Agriculture Land Protections Against Foreign Adversaries
Vote to pass a bill that establishes agriculture land protection against foreign adversaries in Louisiana.
Prohibits individuals from foreign adversary countries from owning agricultural land or having a controlling interest in Louisiana (Sec. 1).
Defines “foreign adversary” as a foreign nongovernment individual or foreign government including (Sec. 1):
The People's Republic of China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
The Republic of Cuba;
Islamic Republic of Iran;
Democratic People's Republic of North Korea;
Russian Federation; and
Venezuela under the leadership of Nicolas Maduro.
Specifies that individuals found to have violated the provisions of this bill are subject to a civil penalty of $50,000 and asset forfeiture (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 2).
