Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that increases natural gas safety violation fine amounts to be in line with federal fine amounts in Michigan.

Highlights:

• Increases natural gas safety violation fine amounts for any individual who violated this act or rule to be in line with federal fine amounts, which are as follows (Sec. 11):

• $200,000 for the first offense; and

• $250,000 for a second or subsequent series of offenses;

• Requires that any individual who willfully and knowingly defaces, damages, removes, or destroys a pipeline sign or right-of-way marker required by this act is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than one year or by a fine of not more than $5,000.00, or both, for each offense (Sec. 11).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 11).
