Vote to pass a bill that prohibits insurers from denying or excluding coverage due to preexisting conditions in Pennsylvania.
Prohibits insurers from denying or excluding coverage due to health factors or other preexisting conditions in Pennsylvania (Sec. 2).
Defines “health factor” as an element related to an individual’s physical or mental makeup, including (Sec. 2):
Health status;
Medical condition;
Claims experience;
Receipt of health care;
Medical history;
Genetic information;
Evidence of insurability, including conditions arising out of acts of domestic violence; or
Disability.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 11).
