Title: Prohibits Insurers from Setting Annual or Lifetime Limits on the Cost of Care
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits insurers from setting annual or lifetime limits on the cost of care in Pennsylvania.
Prohibits health insurance companies from setting annual or lifetime limits in their health insurance policies on the cost of care in Pennsylvania (Sec. 2).
Defines “health insurance policy” as a policy, subscriber contract, certificate, or plan issued by an insurer that provides medical or health care coverage, and does not include (Sec. 2):
An accident-only policy;
A credit-only policy;
A long-term care or disability income policy;
A specified disease policy;
A Medicare supplement policy;
A fixed indemnity policy;
A dental-only policy;
A vision-only policy;
A workers' compensation policy;
An automobile medical payment policy;
A policy under which the Federal Government provides benefits to active or former military personnel and their dependents;
A hospital indemnity policy; or
Any other similar policies that provide limited benefits.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 9).
