Vote to pass a bill that expands health insurance coverage for breast imaging in New York.

Highlights:

• Amends state insurance laws to require individuals, groups, and nonprofits, including HMO health plans to reimburse breast cancer screening and diagnostic imaging, such as mammograms, breast, ultrasounds, and MRIs (Sec. 1-6).

• Requires cost-sharing to not apply to said procedures, except to the extent it would result in health savings account ineligibility under IRS guidelines (Sec. 1-6).

• Defines “nationally recognized clinical practice guidelines” to include evidence-based standards developed by independent organizations or medical professional societies using a transparent methodology and reporting structure (Sec. 1-6).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take January 1, 2026 (Sec. 7).
