Title: Expands Health Insurance Coverage for Breast Imaging
Vote to pass a bill that expands health insurance coverage for breast imaging in New York.
Amends state insurance laws to require individuals, groups, and nonprofits, including HMO health plans to reimburse breast cancer screening and diagnostic imaging, such as mammograms, breast, ultrasounds, and MRIs (Sec. 1-6).
Requires cost-sharing to not apply to said procedures, except to the extent it would result in health savings account ineligibility under IRS guidelines (Sec. 1-6).
Defines “nationally recognized clinical practice guidelines” to include evidence-based standards developed by independent organizations or medical professional societies using a transparent methodology and reporting structure (Sec. 1-6).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take January 1, 2026 (Sec. 7).
