Title: Amends Insurance Law To Require Coverage for Mammograms and other Diagnostic Breast Exams
Vote to amend and pass a bill that amends insurance laws to require coverage for mammograms and other diagnostic breast exams in Alaska.
Requires health insurance providers to conduct risk assessments of their patient's health data (Sec. 1).
Requires health insurance providers to develop and implement a plan to protect their patients’ health data based on risks identified in risk assessment (Sec. 1).
Requires health insurance providers to conduct investigations in the event of a cybersecurity breach and allows health insurance providers to allow third parties to conduct the investigation (Sec. 1).
Requires health insurance providers to notify Alaska’s director of insurance within 3 days of a cybersecurity breach (Sec. 1):
Provides exceptions should federal law enforcement instruct the health insurance provider to not notify the director of insurance; and
Requires third parties working with health insurance providers to follow these rules to the fullest extent possible;
Defines any information provided to health insurance providers, or directors as a result of an investigation, as confidential and privileged (Sec. 1).
Requires penalties for health insurance providers not following practices outlined in this bill (Sec. 1).
Prohibits out-of-pocket expenses for health insurance plans covering mammography and provides exceptions for high-deductible plans used to qualify for a health savings account tax deduction (Sec. 1).
