Vote to amend and pass a bill that prohibits lead cooking pans and utensils in Washington.

Highlights:

• Defines “cookware” as any metal pots, pans, bakeware, rice cookers, pressure cookers, and other containers and devices intended for preparation or storage of food (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits the manufacturing, sale, or distribution of cookware containing more than 5 parts per million of lead in the state (Sec. 1-6).

• Authorizes the state Department of Ecology to establish monetary penalties for violations (Sec. 1-6).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately following passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 7).
