Title: Prohibits Suspension of Students who Disclose Substance Abuse in Order to Seek Support or Services

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the suspension of a student who voluntarily discloses, in order to seek help through services or supports, their use of a controlled substance, alcohol, intoxicants of any kind, or a tobacco product, solely for that disclosure in Califnornia.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits the suspension of a pupil student who voluntarily discloses, in order to seek help through services or supports, their use of the following, including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):

    • Controlled substance;

    • Alcohol;

    • Intoxicants of any kind; or 

    • A tobacco product.

  • Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 2).
