Vote to pass a bill that amends the law regarding notaries public, makes changes to the Ohio Revised Limited Liability Company Act, and to make changes on fees charged by the Ohio Secretary of State.

Highlights:

• Specifies that if the secretary of state revokes an individual commission, the individual is ineligible for reappointment to the office of notary public (Sec. 1).

• Requires that entering upon the duties of office, a notary public shall personally appear before a notary public or any officer authorized by law to administer oaths, who shall administer an oath of office to the notary public (Sec. 1).

• Defines Public Notory (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes the secretary of state shall prescribe and make available an electronic duplicate commission request form and an electronic amendment form (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that a public notary who takes an acknowledgment of a record shall determine, from personal knowledge or satisfactory evidence of the identity of the person acknowledging, that the person appearing before the notary public and making the acknowledgment has the identity claimed and that the signature on the record is the signature of the person (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that a public notary may require an individual to provide additional information or identification credentials necessary to assure the notary public of the identity of the person (Sec. 1).

• Repeals language concerning taking of acknowledgment (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that an authenticator certificate may not be signed or notarized with an electronic signature (Sec. 1).
