Title: Prohibits Health Insurers from Denying Coverage for Inhalers
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits health insurers from denying coverage for inhalers in Illinois.
Prohibits health insurers from denying coverage for prescription inhalers in Illinois (Sec. 5).
Defines “prescription inhalers” as a prescribed medical device that delivers inhaled medications used to treat breathing for persons suffering from asthma or other life-threatening bronchial ailments, including (Sec. 5):
Metered-dose inhalers,
Nebulizers; and
Dry powder inhalers.
Exempts inhalers available over the counter without a prescription and provide temporary relief from respiratory symptoms from the aforementioned definition (Sec. 5).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 5).
