Vote to pass a bill that amends sections of street and highway code relating to class III bikeways, bike facilities and transportation in California.

Highlights:

• Authorizes the commission shall adopt a program of projects to receive allocations under this section (Sec. 3). 

• Requires the initial two-year program of projects be adopted within six months of September 26, 2013 (Sec. 3). 

• Specifies the commission must adopt each program no later than July 1 of each odd-numbered year or can elect to adopt a program annually (Sec. 3). 

• Species each subsequent program shall cover four fiscal years starting July 1 of each adoption year and shall be a statement of intent regarding funds during those years (Sec. 3). 

• Requires the commission to form a multidisciplinary advisory committee to assist in evaluating project proposals (Sec. 3). 

• Establishes a Class III bikeway project on or after January 1, 2026 (Sec. 3). 

• Exempts bikeways project if path in on a highway with a speed limit of 25 miles per hour or less or the project will implement improvements to reduce the design speed limit to 25 miles per hour or less (Sec. 3).
