Highlights:

• Establishes a state agritourism commission in West Virginia (Article 36, Sec. 19-36-6).

• Specifies that the commission shall consist of 10 members appointed by the Governor and with the advice and consent of the Senate be residents of the state representing the following sectors, including (Article 36, Sec. 19-36-6:

• Economic development;

• Tourism;

• Agricultural extension service;

• Farm distilleries;

• Vineyards;

• Wineries;

• Small farms;

• The Farm Bureau;

• Equestrianism; and

• Farm-to-Table.

• Specifies the following objectives of the commission, including (Article 36, Sec. 19-36-6):

• Meeting with similar commissions or bodies of any of the several states whose purpose in their respective states is to preserve farmland, grow agricultural tourism, and agricultural economic development;

• Recommending appropriate legislation to the Legislature, including establishing regulatory and legislative relief to foster the development and growth of agritourism and successful farms; and

• Preparing an annual report to the Legislature and Governor, by the first day of the regular legislative session, concerning commission activities, recommendations, and other necessary information

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect upon passage and approval by the Governor (Article 36, Sec. 19-36-6).
