Vote to pass a bill that amends and repeal parts of the Arizona statutes concerning the regulation of healthcare professionals.

Highlights:

• Restructures the phrase “increased scope of practice” to “certification, registration or licensure” (Sec. 3C). 

• Repeals Section 32-3106 of Arizona's Revised Statutes (Sec. 4). 

• Establishes that when considering proposed legislation to increase the scope of practice for a health professional group the legislature must consider the following; (Sec. 5A). 

• Whether current education and training for that health professional properly prepares them for the increased scope of practice sought;

• Whether increasing the scope of practice will improve the patients access to affordable health care;

• Whether increasing the scope of practice will improve the health and safety as defined in section 41-1093; and

• Whether increasing the scope of practice will cause a regulatory burden for the state including the administrative and financial capacity.

• Establishes the intent of the legislation to preserve the health and safety of Arizonians ensuring that they only receive health care from qualified providers (Sec. 6). 

• Establishes the right to repeal this act at any time (Sec. 6).
