Title: Establishes a School Meal Debt Fund
Vote to pass a bill that establishes a school meal debt fund within the state Department of Education in Pennsylvania.
Establishes a School Meal Debt Fund within the state Department of Education and appropriates $80 million to assist public schools in discharging school meal debt held by students beginning in the 2024-2025 school year (Sec.2 ).
Defines “public schools” as a school operated by a school district, intermediate unit, charter school, regional charter school, or an area career and technical school (Sec. 2).
Prohibits public schools from publicly identifying students with individual lunch debt (Sec. 2).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect 60 days following passage and approval by the Governor (Sec. 3).
