Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the false reporting of violence or emergency in public or private places in Idaho.

Highlights:

• Defines swatting as intentionally submitting false reports to emergency services to send law enforcement out to a private or public place (Sec. 1).

• Requires anyone who submits or causes someone else to submit a false report about explosives being present to be charged with a fine of up to $5,000, a prison sentence of up to one year, or both (Sec. 3).

• Requires any individual swatting that is found guilty of a felony to be sentenced to prison for a period no more than 20 years and no less than one year and could be fined up to $25,000 (Sec. 3)

• Specifies that one can be fined and receive a prison sentence if the damage caused exceeds $1,000, causes significant physical harm, and permanent deficits (Sec. 3).

• Requires an individual convicted of a felony and found guilty to receive a 10-year minimum sentence in the case that the violation results in the death of anybody (Sec. 3).

• Specifies that the prison sentence could go up to life and the person could also receive a $25,000 minimum fine (Sec. 3).

• Defines private places as encompassing any type of public or private building, mobile residences and tents, places of employment, vehicles, and locations where privacy can be achieved (Sec. 3).
