Vote to pass a bill that authorizes police and firefighters with documented post-traumatic stress disorder to retire, at any age, with tax free two-thirds pay pensions for life in Rhode Island.

Highlights:

• Authorizes payment and benefits  for firefighters and Police officers incapacitated by PTSD (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that individuals who do not initially qualify for disability benefits after all appeals have been exhausted shall have 20 days to file for ordinary disability retirement or return to duty (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that nothing in this subsection shall prohibit a member from making a separate agreement with a participating municipality in lieu of the options and benefits set forth in previous acts (Sec. 1).
