Title: Prohibits Foreign Nationals from Contributing Money Directly or Indirectly to State Ballot Initiatives
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits foreign nationals from contributing money directly or indirectly to state ballot initiatives in Ohio.
Defines terms related to elections (Sec. 1).
Prohibits foreign nationals from doing the following actions during an election in the state of Ohio (Sec. 1):
Make a contribution to a campaign for a political candidate;
Make a contribution to a campaign for a statewide ballot, question, or referendum;
Make a communication with the explicit purpose of electioneering;
Promise to make a contribution for the explicit above purposes;
Prohibits campaign committees, individuals working on political campaigns, and others from soliciting money from a foreign national for the purpose of political campaign and (Sec. 1).
Classifies violations of this act as a misdemeanor and a fine of $1000 (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the attorney general shall be the one to investigate any violation of this act (Sec. 1).
